Course Objective

To comprehend properties of instructional technologies, their place, importance and usage in teaching process, to develop materials via instructional technologies and to evaluate them.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain basic concepts regarding to educational technology.
2   To be able to aware of the place and importance of instructional equipments and materials.
3   To be able to use compass, ruler, protractor, miter and plotter in mathematics education.
4   To be able to be aware of instructional materials proposed by mathematics curriculum and their patterns of use in classroom.
5   To be able to explain and apply principles and elements of course design and to evaluate a prepared material.
6   To be able to be aware of reflected and non reflected visual materials and to prepare effective materials accordingly.
7   To be able to explain basic concepts about distance education and the equipments, service and environment for this technology.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Basic concepts about educational technologies.
2 The relationship between instructional technologies and communication, the place and importance of equipments in teaching, elements that shoud be considered in selecting equipments and factors influence this process.
3 Drawings done by compass, ruler, protractor, miter and plotter and the place of these equipments in mathematics education.
4 Instructional materials included in mathematics curriculum.
5 What are the principles and elements of course design Evaluating a prepared material accordingly.
6 Students presentations.
7 Reflected visual materials, their use, maps (concept maps, mindmapping and knowledge map), softwares regarding to prepare maps, students presentations.
8 Midterm exam.
9 Preparing posters, purposes for their use, advantages and disadvantages of posters, softwares regarding to prepare posters.
10 Students presentations.
11 Reflected visual materials, overhead projector and transparencies and use of them, document camera and its use.
12 Students presentations.
13 Using videos in teaching mathematics, preparing videos and softwares regarding to prepare videos.
14 Students presentations., Distance education.
15 Final exam.
