Course Objective

Introduce pedagogical content knowledge, which is one of the knowledge types that pre-service teachers must have, and its components; introduce theoretical frameworks of pedagogıcal content knowledge that support teaching of mathematics, illustrate the examples that are taken real classroom environments, reveal the importance of knowledge of teaching mathematics to perform effective mathematics teaching, and encourage pre-service mathematics teachers to desing teaching applications that support them to reflect the knowledge that they are taught to their future classroom.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learning of what pedagogical content knowledge for teaching mathematics is.
2   Improve pre-service teachers understanding of the main components of pedagogical content knowledge for teaching mathematics
3   Reflectively evaluate the theoretical frameworks related to pedagogical content knowledge which is necessary to teach mathematics effectively
4   Discuss the pedagogical content knowledge using positive and negative examples that are collected from real classroom environments
5   Prepare and present the examples that support to reflect pedagogical content knowledge for teaching mathematics to pre-service teachers future classrooms.

7 Address the Codes and necessity of the Foundation Unit of Knowledge Quartet by demonstrating examples

9 Address the Codes and necessity of the Transformation Unit of Knowledge Quartet by demonstrating examples
10 Address the Codes and necessity of the Connection Unit of Knowledge Quartet by demonstrating examples
11 Address the Codes and necessity of the Contingency Unit of Knowledge Quartet by demonstrating examples
