Course Objective

To teach the basic aspects of sociolinguistics, the biology of language, writing systems, first and second language acquisition.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To comprehend the basic aspects of sociolinguistics. 2   To analyze Turkish and English languages within the frameworks of sociolinguistics 3   To comprehend the relationship between language and culture. 4   To identify communication difficulties stemming from cultural differences 5   To comprehend the biological bases of language. 6   To know the development of writing and different writing systems 7   To explain first language acquisition phases. 8   To explain second language acquisition.
