Course Objective

The analysis of short stories and novels selected from English literature and American literature and their use in English language teaching classes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The disctinctive characteristics of these two literary genres.
2   Thematic analysis of selected literary works and teh analysis of the use of literary devices.
3   The use of these two literary genres in English language teaching
4   Teaching culture through the use of literature
5   A comparison of values, social structures, roles and traditions in the native and targer cultures.
