Course Objective

This course aims to equip students of all departments with the knowledge and skills regarding the basic concepts of computers, hardware and computer ethics and usage of computers. In addition, students learn how to use computers, a word processing software and spreadsheet effectively in the school and professional works.

4   To be able to use a word processing software effectively

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Introduction of the course and the basic concepts of computer technologies.
2 Basic hardware components and their functions.
3 Computer ethics
4 Desktop, file transfer, copying, deleting, and other desktop operations such as recalling a deleted file. Introduction of the start menu, personalizing the desktop, intro to word processing software. Explanation of why word processing software used.
5 General introduction of the Word screen, opening and closing, saving, printing, publishing a document and their applications.
6 Creating visually appealing and professional texts by using the menus; using titles, font, adjusting paragraphs, applications
7 Making tables and index table by using a word processor.
8 Midterm
9 Creating a drawing object by using a word processor.
10 Creating footnote upper note, resources table of graphics and adding index
11 Explanation of spreadsheet software and its screen layout, file operations (opening and closing, saving, printing, publishing a document and their applications. Entering, copying, deleting, carrying data and creating series.
12 Forming data entered, conditioned formation and data features. Simple arithmetic operations.
13 Creating calculation tables, editing formulas, using written formulas and applications.
14 Creating graphics, graphics features, shaping graphics, explanation of commands and applications Data operations such as importing data to spreadsheets, ordering data, filtering, grouping, etc.
15 Final exam
