Course Objective

Studying the reflections of the stories of New and Old Testament two of the most affecting sources which affected western society on the pieces of art(painting, sculpture and music), learning to make iconographic analysis, talking about the general characteristics of the historical, cultural and artistic environment of Medieval times, Renaissance, getting to know the artists and pieces of art of the Medieval times, Renaissance periods in painting, sculpture, architecture and music.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows Old Testament s stories from the sections named Genesis, Exodus and Judges, learning the reflections of figures like Adam, Abraham, Moses, David and Solomon on pieces of art, and New Testament and learning the reflections of the scenes of the life of Virgin Mary and Jesus on pieces of art.
2   Knows the socio-cultural environment of Medieval time and Renaissance Period.
3   Knows the artistic features of Medieval time and Renaissance Period, knows Works of architecture, paintings, sculptures and music (Early Christianity, Early Medieval Gothic)
4   Knows the cultural and artistic environment of Byzantine, knows the Works of architecture, paintings, sculptures and music
5   Knows the cultural and artistic environment of Romanesque and Gothic, knows the Works of architecture, paintings, sculptures and music
