DEGREE PROGRAMMES

: Electrical and Electronics Engineering

General Description

History

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department was founded by Prof. Dr. Hakkı Oranç at 17 February 1981 as a department of Ege University Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. After the foundation of Dokuz Eylül University, EEE department has continued its activity in the structure of the Faculty of Engineering of DEU. Department started its graduate program in 1981-1982 academic year and undergraduate program in 1982-1983 academic year. It has continued its graduate program in English since 1987 and undergraduate program since 1993 in formal education. The purpose of the department is to train creative engineers in theoretical and applied subjects to meet the needs of industry and society. For this purpose, the program includes courses on circuits, electronics, electromagnetics, computers, control, power and communication systems. The program is accredited by Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MUDEK).

Profile of the Programme

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department started its undergraduate program in 1982-1983 academic year and graduate program in 1981-1982 academic year. It has continued its graduate program in English since 1987 and undergraduate program since 1993.
The objective of the department is graduating engineers who can use their skills and abilities for the benefit of society effectively, who developed motives for lifelong learning, who can lead and initiate social and scientific developments, and who can produce innovative solutions to new technological needs in fundamental branches of electrical and electronics engineering. The program includes courses on circuits, electronics, electromagnetics, control, power, communication systems in addition to social elective courses. There are four optional specialization braches at the senior level: telecommunication, control, biomedical and energy systems. The courses are supported by modern instructional facilities in the department. Successful students of the program may also complete Dual Major Undergraduate Program and/or Minor Program in Computer Engineering. Students who successfully complete the dual major program receive another diploma in the second major and students who successfully complete the minor program receive a certificate in the second program. Our undergraduate program is accredited by Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MUDEK).
The department aims to form bilateral agreements with internationally renowned institutions for student and staff exchange to improve the knowledge and experience gained. In this context, the department has several bilateral agreements within the scopes of ERASMUS Student and Staff Exchange Program and FARABİ National Exchange Program.
The educational and research activities have been conducted with faculty consisting of 6 professors, 6 associate professors, 16 assistant professors, 8 research assistants, 1 specialist and 2 technicians, as of 2013. Our department, besides the teaching activities, is actively working on various theoretical and applied research fields and provides service to governmental and local administrations, industry and other private sector institutions with its strong academic and technical infrastructure.
