History

The department of Educational Administration and Supervision has offered Master of Science Degree since 1998, and has offered the MS degree to 30 students at present.

Specific Admission Requirements

To enter this program the students must be graduated from a department of educational faculties and/or they must be working in an institute of education as a teacher, administrator, inspector, specialized professional.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Non-Thesis Program consists of at least 10 courses, not being less than 30 national credits, non-credit semester project, in total 90 ECTS credits.
The student must have at least 2.50 out of 4.00 (cumulative grade point average 2.50/4.00).
The student who successfully passes courses in the graduate program enters an examination for the project assigned to him. If he is unsuccessful in this exam he must enter this exam again with the same jury in three months. The successful student gets his Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Non-Thesis Program diploma.

The program is designed to promote personal development and professional development in the field of educational administration and supervision of the students. The language of instruction is Turkish.

1   To comprehend the purposes and principles of the Turkish national education system.
2   To have knowledge about management, its history and development, and approaches and philosophies of educational management.
3   To be aware of roles and management skills of administrators.
4   To know the basis of school leadership.
5   To know what supervision is and the principles of educational supervision skills and abilities.
6   To be aware of school principals' roles and responsibilities.
7   To be aware of personnel management in schools, and their roles and responsibilities.
8   To understand the expectations from families, administrators, supervisors, and teachers on school curriculum.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Our graduates work in public and private schools run by the Ministry of National Education as principals and middle managers and directors of education. They may also work as inspectors in Ministry of National Education and municipalities.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students must attend classes, practices and examinations. In order for students to qualify for midterms they should attend 70% of the theoretical classes and 80% of the application/lab classes. Students attendance is followed by their Instructor. For almost all required and elective courses there are two written examinations: One midterm examination (given during each semester and dates of which are announced by the Department in the first month of the semester) and one final exam. The instructor announces the weekly course content, the course book and how students will be evaluated and the dates of the exams to the students and the Institute at the beginning of the semester. The instructor evaluated the students depending on their midterm and final grades, attendance to the class, their additional work such as projects, presentations and assignments which were presented at the beginning of the semester.
A make up exam is offered for graduate classes. Upon the approval of the Institute Board students can take the exam from the lessons that they have already passed in order to increase their GPA.
To be able to pass a lesson a graduate student must have minimum CB.
