General Description

History

DEU FAF Photography Department established in 1994 separating from Cinema-Tv-Photography department. In Photography Department is applied a theoretical and practical educational program which involves technical and aesthetic art photography. It also joins to national and international academic and artistic activities; updates educational schedules; educates students as a responsible individuals and awareness on cultural heritage.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

2 years (excluding one year of English Preparatory School), 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

Postgraduate program includes technical, aesthetical and theoretical of art photography. Conventional and contemporary photography techniques and aesthetics examines in historical timeline. This program aims to an interdisciplinary education supporting with elective courses from other art disciplines. The education language is Turkish. Photography Department aims to teaching students who has responsibility in arts; individuals take place in academic and artistic international activities in the long term. Also it aims to maintain with the creative and progressive programs the potential of students in the scientific and artistic areas.

Student Exchange and Student Mobility for Placement Programmes are being held in the frame of LLP/Erasmus.

7   Criticises, comments and analyses the work of art which is related to his/her area.
8   Converts his/her technical and theoretical knowledge in to a work of art.
9   Shares his/her accumulation such as thesis etc. , verbal,written document.
10   İdentifies his/her targets in any artistic and cultural community.
11   Plans and practices the process of a project.
12   He/she takes place in conserving artistic and cultural values for making society consciousness

Photography Department postgraduates could take in charge following areas: Press Photography, Fashion Photography, Advertising and Promotional Photography, Cinema-Tv Set Photography, Cinematographer, Press (Media) Sector, Documentary Research, Documentation of Protected Areas, Art Photography, Experimental Photography, Academician.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The regulations for examination and grading are arranged in the fourth part of DEU Graduate School of Fine Arts Educational and Examinational Regulations. The lowest grade to be successful in a credit course is 75. Detailed assessment methods and criteria for courses are explained in syllabi.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of at least 7 courses, not being less than 21 national credits, a seminar and specialization courses and thesis studies, in total 120 ECTS credits.
