General Description

History

The main aim of Masters degree programme in human resources is to educate scholarship experts who have the ability to evaluate, interprete, apply the knowledge and create new knowledge through giving insights about scientific research method in macro and micro dimensions of human resources. Until 1998, Masters degree programme in Human Resources has continued under the name of Masters Degree Programme in Labour Relations Management at the Graduate School of Social Sciences. Since 1999, programme has been training as Masters Degree Programme in Human Resources.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree) diploma; a minimum score of 55 from the Academic Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related field or GRE/GMAT equivalent; a minimum score of 50 from the Foreign Language Exams (ÜDS/KPDS/YDS/e-YDS/YÖKDİL) or from equivalent foreign language proficiency exam approved by OSYM or a minimum score of 55 from DEU School of Foreign Languages English Proficiency Test. Transcript; a minimum score of 65 from the graduate school academic proficiency exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

The objective of this master programme is to give required knowledge, competence, scientific research methods and culture to the candidates of scholarship expert who have the potential of academic studying with an insight of having a purpose of increasing the work and life satisfaction through orientating the human resources and providing social protection. There are three foreign language lessons in the curriculum. These lessons constitute 15 percent of the program.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   They have the ability to think scientifically, learn and with using know-how, reach to knowledge, evaluate and interpret the knowledge in social sciences field.
2   They have information about the structure, potential and the role for development of our human existence in macro level and have knowledge about international labour movement.
3   They know the politics of family, education and health at the level which they can express an opinion and generate a solution with critical thinking.
4   They are expert at the theoretical level for human resources processes and functions. They can constitute new knowledge in these issues and can develop applications.
5   They have the basic knowledge of science of psychology, sociology and law concerned closely with human resources, the extent at which they can implement and develop this knowledge to manage processes and consequences in working life.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

In the private sector, graduates of the Master's Degree Programme in Human Resources can work as a manager and consultant in departments of human resources, industrial relations and social work. They also can be employed as collective bargaining specialist in trade unions and employer s unions.
Graduates of the Master's Degree Programme in Human Resources can work at TC Ministry of Development, at domestic and foreign units of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, and at social security institutions as inspectors and experts. They also can work in the management of social affairs departments of ministries, at workers and employers organizations and state-owned enterprises.

Human Resources master programme consists of 11 compulsory and 14 elective courses, 1 specialization field course and 1 seminar course. In each of the first two semesters, 1 optional course should be chosen from available courses. Students who have successfully completed the courses have to prepare and defend a thesis.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 53 ECTS), a seminar (3 ECTS) and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/S/TP grades.
