General Description

History

Post graduate education which was linked to Social Sciences Institute has been initiated in the following years of the establishment of Textile and Fashion Design Department in 1977-1978. Education has been carried out as Textile Design Major at the Fine Arts Institute since 2002. The major also was renamed as the Textile and Fashion Design Major since 2009-2010 Fall semester.

Interview, Written Examination, Portfolio, Second Cycle (Master's Degree) diploma, Transcript (minimum score GPA 80 or 3.00), required points in UDS (Foreign Language Exam) or equivalent score in KPDS, TOEFL,etc)

Transfer Students
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management
The Graduate Transfers
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs Legşilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in Graduate Transfer Guide and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

4 years, 2 semesters per year, 15 weeks per semester, 240 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

A curriculum is intended which primarily aims to contribute to development of the society in terms of art and culture and guides in preserving social and cultural values it gives importance to All the courses are optional but those in thesis and expertise . Applicants can major in Textile Design, Fashion Apparel Design and Fashion Accessory Design as well as the optional courses which can be enclosed to their diplomas.
Education program has been carried on by five academicians. All the post graduate courses have been held in the classrooms and ateliers of the Faculty of Fine Arts and offices of the academicians.

6   Advanced evaluating the process of transition from design to industrial production.
7   Advanced analysing and developing product.
8   Gaining ability and skills in problem solving.
9   Using modern production techniques and related advanced skills in applications for the field and having ability to use techniques conducted in different disciplines .
10   Using a foreign language efficiently.
11   Ability of doing advanced comment, analysis and criticism on art and design.
12   Change what has been acquired from education as knowledge and skills into expertise-based proficiency.
13   Doing team work, cooperate with different disciplines and use what has been gained from different fields in his/her own or proffession.
14   Watch developments in his/her field and be innovative and open to progression.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

The graduates can be employed as academician at the state or private universities or as designer, R&D responsible, department responsible/manager, customer representative in the relevant sectors.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates may apply to post doctorate studies.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The regulations for examination and grading are arranged in the fourth part of DEU Graduate School of Fine Arts Educational and Examinational Regulations. The lowest grade to be successful in a credit course is 75. Detailed assessment methods and criteria for courses are explained in syllabi.

Graduation Requirements

Third Cycle (Doctorate Degree) program is comprised of at least 7 courses, not being less than 21 national credits, pasing a gualifiying examination, preparing and defending a doctoral dissertation, in total 240 ECTS credits.
