: Business Administration for Executives (Evening)

General Description

History

Master of Business Administration Non- Thesis programme, which commenced its education activities in 2003, was redesigned for Executives in 2012, in order to better serve the needs of managers and professionals. The programme renders advanced level education which develops the knowledge, skills and competency for those individuals who would either like to work or already has been working as a manager in both private and public sectors. Moreoever, the programme provides an opportunity to enrich their knowledge of entrepreneurship for those individuals who would like to establish their own businesses. In this programme, courses are taught between the hours 17:00 and 22:00. Medium of instruction is English.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

1,5 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 90 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

Efficient and effective management of businesses is extremely important in an ever increasing competition in today's world. In this programme, advanced level of knowledge and skills about the business administration are provided to students from various backgrounds. The program renders opportunities for speacializing in one of the business functions such as marketing, management, accounting, finance, production and information systems besides general business administration.Thus, it is expected that those students who finish the program successfully can work as managers in middle and high level positions both in Turkey and also abroad. Moreover, the programme provides an opportunity to enrich their knowledge in entrepreneurship for those individuals who would like to establish their own businesses.
The objective of this programme is to educate professionals and entrepreneurs enabling them to have the ability to evaluate the effects of national and international developments related to business and its environment on the firm performance; to have the ability to develop strategy, and manage the change using modern management techniques; to have the ability to play a critical role in team working and to contribute to the strategic decision making process considering the interactions between business functions; to be equipped with in-depth knowledge in the fundamental areas of business management; to have the ability to perform synthesis using quantitative-qualitative techniques and information technologies; have an advanced ability in reporting and presentation skills; possess holistic perspective and professional ethical values.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   To develop and deepen students knowledge on basic managerial functions regarding their chosen field of study and to enable them to use this comprehensive knowledge in the decision-making process
2   To help students cultivate the habit of following, analyzing, discussing developments regarding businesses and their work environments on a national and international level while educating them to formulize solutions using scientific methods.
3   To collect data regarding management using an analytical approach; to analyze data using quantitative and qualitative decision making techniques; to report findings by using information systems; to present and interpret this information and use it in the strategic decision-making process.
4   To be able to formulate, communicate and apply strategies while appraising basic managerial functions and their intrinsic relationship in a holistic approach.
5   To establish effective oral and written communication skills in English (B2) and to defend their original ideas.
6   To enhance research and organizational skills of being focused, organized, objective, and result oriented while developing solutions to business problems.
7   To develop the ability to work within a group and manage teamwork.
8   To comprehend the importance of professional business ethics.

Graduates of this programme do not have the right to apply to the third cycle programmes.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

In this programme, courses are taught in three semesters. All courses are compulsory in the first semester. In the second semester, there are four compulsory courses and one elective course. Compulsory courses are designed to cover all the functions of a business. Elective courses, on the other hand, are formed so that the students can specialize on a certain function of the business. Business Policy and Strategic Management course provides a way to handle and interpret all the functions of a business so that the management can be evaluated in a holistic manner. Third semester consists of a compulsory course, term project study besides one elective module. There are three different module options: - Digital World - International Business and Management - Entrepreneurship Each module includes three courses.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Non-Thesis Programme is comprised of courses (at least 73 ECTS), Term Project (17 ECTS), in total 90 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/S/TP grades.
