General Description

History

Master of Business Administration with Thesis programme started its education activities in 2002. The programme renders education that develops the necessary knowledge and skills for those students who would like to work as academic personnel in universities and as managers in the private or public sectors. Moreover, the programme provides an opportunity to major in entrepreneurship for those individuals who would like to succeed in their own businesses. Medium of instruction is English.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle (Bachelor's Degree) diploma; a minimum score of 55 from the Academic Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) in the related field or GRE/GMAT equivalent; a minimum score of 50 from the Foreign Language Exams (UDS/KPDS/YDS) or TOEFL IBT/PEARSON PTE/Goethe-Zertifikat/TestDaF/DELF&DALF equivalent or a minimum score of 55 from DEU School of Foreign Languages English Proficiency Test. Transcript; a minimum score of 65 from the graduate school academic proficiency exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programmes if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Programme Graduates to First Cycle Programmes" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

Efficient and effective management of businesses is extremely important in an ever increasing competition in todays world. In this programme, advanced level knowledge and skills about the business administration are provided to students from various backgrounds. The programme renders opportunities for speacializing in one of the business functions such as marketing, management, accounting, finance, production and information systems besides general business administration.Thus, it is expected that those students who finish the programme successfully can work as managers in middle and high level positions in institutional firms both in Turkey and also abroad. Moreover, the programme provides an opportunity to major in entrepreneurship for those individuals who would like to establish their own businesses.
The objective of this programme is to educate professionals and entrepreneurs who have an ability to evaluate the effects of national and international developments related with business and its environment on the firm performance; have an ability to develop strategy, and manage the change using modern management techniques; have an ability to play a critical role in team working and to contribute to the strategic decision making process considering the interactions between business functions; are equipped with in-depth knowledge in the fundamental areas of business management; have an ability to perform synthesis using quantitative-qualitative techniques and information technologies; have an advanced ability in reporting and presentation skills; possess holistic perspective and professional ethical values.

1   To be able to use the fundamental knowledge regarding business functions in decision making by developing and deepening this knowledge at the level of expertise in the chosen field of study
2   To be able to conduct original researches in the chosen field of study with an analytical approach by using information systems; to be able to solve problems and make strategic decisions by interpreting findings.
3   To be able to formulate a strategy by evaluating the basic functions of business and their relationships with each other with an up-to-date and a holistic perspective and to be able to take responsibility in the implementation of this strategy.
4   To be able to express oneself by using effective communication techniques.
5   To be able to do a teamwork and have teamwork done.
6   To have professional ethical values.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

The students who graduate from the programme, work in the medium and high level management positions at firms, organizations and institutions which are in either the private or the public sector.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

In this programme, the courses given in the first semester are all compulsory. In the second semester, four courses are compulsory and two courses are elective. Compulsory courses are designed to cover all the functions of a business. Elective courses, on the other hand, are formed so that the students can specialize on a certain function of the business. Business Policy and Strategy Management course, which is given in the second semester provides a way to handle and interpret all the functions of a business so that the management can be evaluated in a holistic manner.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 56 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS) and field study (2 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
