Course Objective

Introduction of the Turkish play writing pace and development, the evaluation of its content and form, to the students of Main Art Branche of Dramatic Writing (The Traditional Theater, Play Writing in Tanzimat and Meşrutiyet Era, from the Republic years till the 1940s).

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To evaluate the characteristics of the content and the form of a stage play text according to a specific genre,
2   To conceal the author text relation,
3   To establish bridges between the text and the era characteristics,
4   To develop the skill to find examples to specific concepts that are used for surveying a stage text,
5   To make comparisons between different interpretations and opinions,
6   To express the ideas both orally and verbally.
7   To transfer obtained information into materials play-writing

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The main method in the lectures is the discussions to help the students understand the characteristics covered, after the lecturer states the context and form characteristics of a stage play text.
These discussions, aim to lead the students to create new and unique ideas and comparisons between different ones as well as the new information taken lately.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The comprahension of the genre, literary movement and author of the play, characteristics of those, are the base in the exam evaluations.
Another significant part is to prove this characteristics with examples from the plays and capacity to make comparisons.
As the basis of the evaluation consists of the written exams, it is very important for students to use a very fluent, rich and correct language to express the ideas and thoughts.

Assessment Criteria

It is significant to deliver the papers complete and on time, to do sufficient research of sources and using them in ethical way and make correct use of that.

Course Policies and Rules

Students are obliged to attend %70 of the course.
Students are responsible for the reading of the sources about stage play texts as well as the play texts to be held in the class in advance.
Students are to fulfil the personal responsibilities without delays, about any kind of given research and paper in the program of the course
