Course Objective

The objective of the course is get students to comprehend the basic concept of art and aesthetics, inform them about the stages of aesthetic concept in historical process, provide them to be able to make inquiry and assessment on basic concepts like art, artist, work of art, fine in the art in a discussion environment.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student defines the basic concepts of aesthetics.
2   Student categorizes the sources of aesthetics.
3   Student analyses the artwork on aesthetic values.
4   Student cognize that the aestectics is a fact of life since early periods of history.
5   Student learns the aesthetics discussions which exist since ancient times.
6   Student defines the development of aesthetics in modern and post-modern era.

1 Introduction to Aesthetics: The reason of aesthetics education, sources about aesthetics.
2 What is aesthetics Its matter, components, how to use in everday life and aesthetics as a special conception. The differences between it and art philosophy.
3 The evolution of conception of aesthetics in historical process
4 The evolution of art in Turkey.
5 Aesthetics and culture, the connection between life and aesthetics.
6 Aesthetic and ballet, painting, sculpture, architecture, mythology and religion.
7 Aesthetics and music Presentation
8 The artist, the artwork.
9 Aesthetics as a component of artwork.
10 Admiration and aesthetical judgements.
11 Fine, fine in nature and art, the evolution of fine conception, the ugliness conception in art.
12 Aesthetical pleasure and concern.
13 Mid-term exam
14 Overall assesment and argument.

Assignment/Presentation: Students prepare an assignment and make a presentation of it.
Exam: In one period there are mid-term exam and final exam. The exams are done written.
Attending to Course: It is obligatory.

Assessment Criteria

It is taken into consideration attending to course, it is obligatory to attend with a percentage of %70. The assessment is done by adding the percentages of mid-term exam s %40,assignment/presentation s %20, final exam s %40.
