Course Objective

Aims to teach about the emergence, development and characteristics of the Byzantine archaeology in the Eastern Mediterranean between 5th to 15th cent. A.D.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, student will gain following competences: Analyzing the archaeology of Early Byzantine period (A.D. 330-726),
2   Distinguishing the archaeology of Middle Byzantine period (A.D. 867- 1204),
3   Exploring the archaeology of Late Byzantine period (A.D. 1261-1453),
4   Explaning the archaeology of Byzantine Istanbul,
5   Describing the archaeology of Byzantine Asia Minor.
