Course Objective

The target of this course is to give students an introduction to the basics of marine insurance law. The actual and historical sources of marine insurance law will be examined.

1   1.Describe the principles of maritime and transport law

3   3. Understand the importance of insurance and the risks covered in maritime transportation .

4 The rights and duties of the assured in insurance contract The rights and duties of insurer according to insurance contract
5 Meaning of risk, identifying and analyzing loss exposures, concept of risk management
6 Perils of the sea, the concept of seaworthiness
7 Particular and general average
8 Midterm Exam
9 Hull insurance
10 Risks covered by H&M insurance
11 Formation and function of P&I clubs
12 Liabilities and expenses covered by P&I clubs
13 Cargo Insurance
14 Cargo Insurance
15 The analysis of disputes related with marine insurance law
16 Final Exam
