Course Objective

General introduction of data processing methods applied to Gravity and magnetic
methods, Applications to seperate regional and residual anomalies, introduction and
application of methods which are used to define model parameters, Applications of
modelling (forward and inverse solution).

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 General introduction of lecture and giving the references
2 Introduction of digital sampling of gravity and magnetic maps and applications on them.
3 Introductions of filtering, analytic continuation, derivation and trend analysis method
4 Applications of filtering, analytic continuation, derivation and trend analysis method to digitalized data.
5 Correlation of result maps after application with geology and tectonics of the field by making a qualitative interpretation of them
6 Introduction of power spectrum, Hilbert transform, Hartley transform etc., to determine structural parameters such as depth, thickness, direction and geometry
7 Mid-term exam
8 Application of structural parameters
9 Introduction of gravity and magnetic modelling (forward and inverse solution)
10 Application of modelling methods to the gravity and magnetic data.
11 Conclusion would be determined by using quantitative and qualitative interpretation results of gravity method.
12 Conclusion would be determined by using quantitative and qualitative interpretation results of magnetic method
13 Mid-term exam
