Course Objective

The objective of the Course is to introduce internal structures and several properties of engineering materials , while at the same time, have the student to understand the relations among these concepts and the behavior of materials in electrical and electronic applications.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define the physical and chemical aspects of the internal structures of engineering materials
2   To become familiar with some of the modern equipment used to determine internal structures and properties of materials
3   To be able to explain the relationship between internal structures and properties of materials
4   To be able to express the relationship between the physical and chemical properties of the materials and their electrical, electronic and magnetic properties
5   To be able to define the current manufacturing processes for some basic electronic materials and components
6   To be aware of the relationship between the observed behaviour of engineering materials and their properties and internal structures

8 Relationships between the chemical and electrical properties of materials
