Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to allow students to understand the importance of scientific research, and gain the basic knowledge and skills for evaluating researches, participating in the research process in accordance with ethical principles, taking active roles, using research results in order to improve nursing care.

1   The student understands the importance an role of research in nursing.
2   The student can explain the role and responsibilities of nurses in research.
3   The student can identify the basic steps of research process.
4   The student can use the ways of reaching professional and scientific information.
5   The student knows the main properties of different research methods.
6   The student knows the sections of written research reports.
7   The student can evaluate research papers in accordance with basic principals.
8   The student knows the ethical principles of research.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

In the assessment of the course, 60% of the midterm grade and 40% of the final grade shall determine the semester grade. The total midterm grade shall be calculated by taking the average of midterm exams.

Semester Grade: 60% intra-semester grade (30% of 1st Midterm Exam + 30% of 2nd Midterm Exam) + 40% final grade
