Course Objective

The exhibition, artistic representation, visualization and connotation of the human body as a fundamental tool of expression is also one of the problems of contemporary art. The aim of the course is to encourage the students to evaluate and discuss the situations related to the human body in association with concepts such as identity, ownership, sexuality and violence; and to guide them during the production of works in this context.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Discussions on representations of the body with a presentation of samples of typical works throughout the history of art.
2   Introduction and discussion of various texts on the subject.
3   Evaluation of the situations related to the human body in association with concepts such as identity, ownership, sexuality and violence.
4   To encourage the students to experiment with tools such as photography, videos and also performances as a way of using the body itself, in addition to painting --when appropriate.
5   To encourage the students to be genuine and unique in the production of their works.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

To start a sustainable dialog with the students through mutual conversations about their "works", and identifying the references to contemporary art by making reading / watching suggestions in parallel to the works produced.
