Course Objective

To understand the basic concepts of the physiology of blood, respiration and circulation; to learn the changes of mechanisms in diseases

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Respiratory mechanics, to understand the gas exchange in the lungs and tissue level
2   To define compliance, airway resistance, the work of breathing and the factors that influence
3   To define ventilation / perfusion relationship and understand the factors affecting
4   To understand the neural and chemical control of respiration
5   To apply and interpret pulmonary function tests
6   To understand the principles of contraction of the heart muscle and electrical and mechanical events of the cardiac cycle
7   To understand the mechanisms of the events of a heart cycle, physiological functioning of the heart, heart valve functions and heart sounds
8   To explain the basic principles of the ECG, making the physiological and pathophysiological evaluation
9   To understand the functional mechanisms of circulation, regulation and control of blood pressure and importance of cardiovascular system
10   To understand the production of red blood cells, life and the destruction
11   To understand the types of hemoglobin and synthesis
12   To understand the iron metabolism
13   To defineThe formation of leukocytes, general characteristics, types, functions and the life span
14   To define the mechanisms of Inflammation, immunity, and appearance of allergy
15   To recognition, determination and interpretation of blood groups. To understand the mechanisms of primary and secondary hemostasis required to prevention of blood loss
