Course Objective

This course aims to train specialist nurses that have the characteristics of universal scientist and enough skill and competence for public health nursing concepts and applications, the principles of health protection and promotion according to life periods, politics in national and international level, the assessment of the elements forming the society and the development of nursing approach to determined problems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Plans programs directed at health risks and protection of health for individual, family, group and society
2   2. Explains the current structure and historical development of national health system and protective health services,
3   3. Can define the risk groups in the society and take precautions according to their necessities
4   4. Can develop solutions for the problems in the society by using nursing process.
5   5. Knowing the methods used in diagnosing society, can make diagnosis
6   6. Can show the problems related to society s nutrition and related nursing approach
7   7. Can prepare health education by knowing health education principles and principles related to adulthood period
8   8. Can explain the factors effecting society mental health, the effects of these discomforts on society and nursing approaches in these discomforts
9   9. Knows the importance of school health, can identify the risks and apply necessary interventions
10   10. Knows the importance of occupational health, can identify the risks in working area and apply necessary interventions
11   11. Knows the importance of ageing health, can identify the and apply necessary interventions
12   12. Knows the importance of adolescent health, can identify the risks and apply necessary interventions
13   13. Knows the importance of adult health, can identify the risks and apply necessary interventions
14   14. Can discuss the inequality in health services utilization in our country and in the world and can explain the reasons.

Through exams, the skills of being able to interpret, remember, decide, explain and combine the knowledge are assessed.

In the assignments of the students, the skills of researching and analyzing a subject, comparing it with world samples, writing and self expression are assessed
