Course Objective

This course aims to transfer of scientific ethics and work of the supervising faculty member to the students, providing the ability to follow current literature related to the thesis topic, to follow new developments, to evaluate and to discuss.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To independently design and conduct all stages of a research project within the framework of one or a few problems,
2   To define and apply the theoretical framework and the methods to be used in the chosen research subject
3   To analyse, synthesize and interpret the collected data about the research project,
4   To follow the scientific and ethics values in the stages of data collection, evaluation and publication,
5   To present the results of the research in written and aural forms.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The lessons are held individually with each student. The advisor guides the students in every stage of the research and thesis and the lessons are based on discussion. The advisor expects students to be ready for every step of the research and have the ability to make decisions individually.

Assessment Criteria

Project:
The student has to design and conduct a research using the theories, methods and techniques of Musicology (Historical musicology, Systematic Musicology or Ethnomusicology) or an interdisciplinary field and present the results of research process in the required format as written text.

Class attendancy:
The attendancy point will be based on (a) the attendancy status, (b) the quality of the student s answers to the instructer s questions, (c) the student s contribution to providing a positive learning environment.

1. Attendance to 70 % of lectures is compulsory.
2. Every kind of plagiarism is subject to official investigation
3. Deadline of assignments and presentations should be strictly followed.
4. Projects delivered after the deadline will not be evaluated.
