Course Objective

To acquire advance concepts of human genetics through genetic syndromes and disease models.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to know Mendelian and non-Mendelian inheritance patterns, and comments on pedigrees.
2   to know the mechanism of mythocondrial and trinucleotide repeat diseases mutations and inheritance, and to comment on pedigrees.
3   to know basic principles of multifactorial inheritance and to discuss about multifactorial disease
4   to know basic concepts of linkage, crossing-over and mapping and solves problems.
5   to know developments about prenatal diagnosis, and to discuss to them
6   to define epigenetic mechanisms that play a role in disease development
7   to know and Practices all National/ International/ Professional, Ethic and Legal Regulations in Specified Field

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures: Basic theoretical concepts will be explained during lectures
Homework: Students will solve to problem based questions about the previous lecture that are given by the course coordinator, and shall be submitted in writing.
Homework Assignments/Presentation: Each student prepare a presentation as his/her choice for a complex genetic disease.
