Course Objective

To learn general aspects of endocrinology and the medicines used in endocrinological diseases

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn endocrin hormones which have many functions in metabolism and growing
2   To learn general specialities and clinical pharmacology of the medicines used in diabetes
3   To learn general specialities and clinical pharmacology of the medicines used in thyroid disorders
4   To learn general specialities and clinical pharmacology of the medicines used in calcium metabolism disorders
5   To learn general knowledge about corticosteroids
6   To use all these knowledge in daily life.

Course Contents

1 Introduction to endocrine system pharmacology-I (Physicochemical specialities and qualifications of hormones)
2 Introduction to endocrine system pharmacology-II (To organization of the hormone secretion, Biosynthesis, transportation and elimination of hormones)
3 Introduction to endocrine system pharmacology-III
4 Insulin, oral antidiabetics and glucagon-II
5 Corticosteroids, corticosteroid antagonists and ACTH-I (Glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids)
6 Corticosteroids, corticosteroid antagonists and ACTH-II (Aldosteron antagonists, the medicines that decrease to the synthesis and effects of the steroids in adrenal cortex)
7 Antithyroid drugs: Thyroid hormones, antithyroid drugs, thyrotropin and thyrotropin releasing hormone-I
8 Antithyroid drugs: Thyroid hormones, antithyroid drugs, thyrotropin and thyrotropin releasing hormone-II
9 Parathyroid hormone, Vitamin D, calcitonin, biphosponates and the others-I
10 Parathyroid hormone, Vitamin D, calcitonin, biphosponates and the others-II
11 Androgens, anabolic steroids and antiandrogenic medicines
12 Estrogens, progesterons and antagonists
13 Oral contraceptives and the methods of pregnancy prevention
14 Hormones of hypophises and hypothalamus
