Course Objective

Define the basic oncology, cancer etiology, carcinogenesis, cell cycle and cancer relationship, differentiation and transformation of the molecular mechanisms of cancer development and understanding of the role. Mechanisms of cell death, angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis, the Importance of signaling pathways in cancer, oncogene and tumor suppressor genes is the understanding of the importance of cancer diagnostic, treatment and monitoring. Molecular Basis of anticancer therapy is to understand the specific examples of types of cancer. In laboratory lessons cancer cell culture, differentiation of cancer cell culture model, western blot practice, tumor tissue, DNA, RNA Isolation, Real-time PCR and mutation analysis in understanding of cancer diagnosis.

1   Capable of express in general terms the basic oncology
2   Be able to recognize and understand the role of Basic oncology, Cancer Etiology, Carcinogenesis, Cell Cycle and Cancer relationship, Differentiation and transformation of the molecular mechanisms of cancer development.
3   Knows examples of specific types of cancer with molecular basis of Anticancer Therapy
4   Knows and apply the general methods used in basic oncology
5   Be able to criticize and plan and basic oncology studies

Assessment Criteria


1. Being able to express in general terms the basic oncology, prepared by a particular type of cancer (eg breast cancer, lung cancer), the basic method used in oncology (RT-PCR, Sequencing) for diagnostic or prognostic assignment of a parameter with the preparation work will be assessed.
2. The general methods used in oncology to know and basic practical courses will be evaluate in applied lessons.
3. To question the making of intermediate and searching capabilities related to basic oncology researchs will be evaluate with midterm and final exam.
