Course Objective

Within the scope of the Turkish Sculpture Art and Art Market, the purpose is to determine the existing conditions of the sculpture art within the changing culture after the Republican period up to the present day, and to gain the skills of enlightenment, understanding the basic concepts, analyzing and evaluating with respect to it.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to describe the development of the sculpture art since the proclamation of the republic up to the present day by observing the phenomenon of market of art
2   To be able to describe the process which the education of the Fine Arts underwent after the declaration of the republic together with its artists by centering the sculpture art
3   To be able to describe the general condition of the sculpture art since the declaration of the Republic up to the present day
4   Tobe able to correlate the plastic arts with the social developments within the scope of the sculpture art
5   To be able to comprehend the basic issues determining the discussions developing within the framework of the Turkish sculpture art

2 In the cultural policies of the Republic location of the fine arts and sculpture 1923-1950
3 The art of sculpture in public space monumental sculpture and fhenomenon of foreign sculptors.
4 Education of sculpture at the Academy between the years 1923-1950 and Rudolf Belling effect
5 Government support for the arts:State Art and Sculpture Museum and the State Art and Sculpture Exhibitions
6 After the Republic of sculpture art, figurative art styles, art groups and artists
7 Mid-term exam
8 General state of the art of sculpture in Cultural policies since 1950. Major artists of the non-figurative sculpture in Turkey.
9 Art debate around the Non-Figurative art.
10 Discussed general concepts around the art Market phenomenon and the first private art gallery: Maya Art Gallery. Social events and fine arts of 1950-1960
11 Socialist realism in sculpture and painting. Cultural debate around the issues of social events in 1960-1970
12 Commercial art galleries, debates around the art market and new trends in Turkish art, alternative art forms
13 Discussions of contemporary art exhibitions, biennials and art fairs
