Course Objective

The aim of this course is to equip the student with technical and coordination skills by conducting the voice and breathing excercises required for becoming a professional opera singer. Through the study of a repertoire comprised of pieces from various periods and composers that are suitable for the student s voice type, the course aims at the practical development of the student s technical knowledge and cognisance of style.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Can vocally interpret the work in the style appropriate for its period.
2   Can provide coordination of voice and breath.
3   Can perform voice exercises which are appropriate for his own voice type.
4   Can exhibit his acquired opera culture performing in different locations.
5   Can improve tone, intonation, agility and articulation control.
