Course Objective

To make the students of the directing department learn and comprehend the techniques of screenwriting as a basic component of a film

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have knowledge about the techniques of screenwriting as a basic component of a film
2   2. Learn how to write a synopsis, film story and treatment.
3   3. Learn the basic components of screenwriting such as dramatic structure, story line, character building, main conflict, side conflicts, identification and catharsis
4   4. Understand the significance of some elements such as color, light, sound, effects while creating a cinematic sense
5   5. Recognize, reveal and evaluate his/her capacity of creativity

1. The theoretical aspect of screenwriting is lectured.
2. Theoretical knowledge is analyzed through watching films.
3. The students are assigned to writing experimental works to improve their ability to write. They develop their skills on criticism and self-criticism through reading their works in front of the class.
