Course Objective

For wpeople who closely interested in cinema, it is not just composed of popular Hollywood films. It wont be fair in a comaprison with Hollywood film industry but capable to sell movies all over the world, the east asian cinema is an example which deserves a detailed analsye to comprehend the authenticity of relations with its cultural context. the main purpose of the lesson is to find and comprehend these relations between east asian cinema and its cultural roots over the important director's films. In this context, differences and similarites between each aestethic categories are the subject of this lesson.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

in this course, first of all, student will train about the history of visual arts and culture in east asia. in this context the relations between cultural roots and east asian cinema can be realized. in the second hand, over movies from east asian cinema, the visual structure and aestethic specialities will be analysed in a comparison with hollywood movies.

in midterm exam, it will be measured that did students get the point between culture and cinema. in final exam, it will be measured that did students realized the differences between east asian cinema and mainstream hollywood movies.
