Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the emerge of film criticism (analysis) and its development history, when and from which necessity it has emerged, its contribution to cinema, criticism methods in accordance with the relation between cinema and theory.
In this course, the scenarios of sample films are taken as a sample for their themes, category, country and setting period etc.
It is also aimed to analyse them aesthetically and content features, and to teach the students to have a look at them in a critical way.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   comprehend the cinema theory relation by means of scenario and film criticism
2   Realize the importance of criticism factor in cinema development
3   Comprehend the fact that they should be aware of the other branches of fine arts to be able to make accurate criticism
4   Gain the skill to understand and solve a film
5   Learn that they should be a good cinema viewer as an artistic production
6   Learn to use the methods correctly while solving criticism methods and films
