Course Objective

This course aims to provide a better film language by giving information about audio devices such as microphones, mixers and recording tools. Besides physical existence of sound, audio processes of production and post-production steps are the subjects of this course.

1 Aims of the course. Sound as a concept
2 Pros & Cons of dubbing and live sound recording
3 Microphones and classifications. Miking techniques
4 Concepts of digital & analog. Digital sound vs. Analog sound
5 Digital and analog recording systems
6 Sound mixer. Connectors used in audio profession.
7 Digital audio formats. Introduction to Adobe Audition.
8 In Adobe Audition: Mixing the sound and adding it on a film.
9 Midterm evaluation.
10 Amps. Loudspeaker types. Proper listening conditions.
11 Sound cards and digital interfaces
12 Proper acoustics for proper listening. Basics of acoustics.
13 Use of visual language, verbal language and aural language. Characteristics and differens of these langs.
14 Reinforcing the subjects by excerpts taken from movies.
