Course Objective

To teach concepts in textile design and production, environmentally friendly clean production methods, organic textiles, ecological assessment criteria for textiles, current approaches/applications in this fields, organic/eco/sustainable textile certificates and labels.

2 Properties and assessment criteria of environmentally friendly ecological/organic textiles
3 A general overview: Sustainable applications and clean production methods in textile industry
4 Organic cotton, eco friendly fibres, fabrics and materials
5 Ecological approaches to textile pretreatments and finishings
6 Ecological approaches to textile dyeing and printing
7 Environmentally friendly Technologies; ultrasound (US), enzymatic, plasma, ultraviolet (UV), microwave, ozon etc. treatments and their advantages
8 What is Life Cycle Assesment (LCA)
9 Current trends in sustainable eco friendly textile design, relevant designers and projects.
10 Recycling and upcycling in textile design and production
11 Mid-term exam
12 Initiatives, foundations and projects for sustainability in the world and Turkey
13 Organic/eco/sustainable textile certificates and labels
14 Organic/eco/sustainable textile certificates and labels
