Course Objective

It is intended to study technological and innovative designs and approaches to increase the functions of shoes with ergonomics, materials and production techniques within the 20th century shoe designing and manufacturing processes, and to carry out human-centered and environment-friendly designs and productions for requirements and demands of the sector.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to gain knowledge and skill to design product for the design criteria in shoe designing
2   Ability to study and interpret the applications of technological materials and systems in shoe designing
3   Ability to design and produce within the context of functional factors in shoe designing
4   Ability to study and apply the interdisciplinary working conditions within the context of shoe designing
5   Ability to carry out human-compatible, ergonomic and environment-friendly designs which can meet the functional requirements to the broadest extent

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. The course is conducted with 2 projects (design + application) for one period.
2. The projects are arranged to develop the knowledge and skills of students on the subjects of design.
3. The project supports to use leather and by-product materials.
4. The process, schedule, application principles are located in the project explanation.
5. The project process is carried out as research, design and application.
6. The student presents the requirements within the scope of project at the end of each project. He/she conveys the project process verbally.

The student is obliged to perform the project in line with the design principles and in accordance with the objective, process and schedule of the project. The student who successfully completes the project by having also attended to the course gets passing mark.
