Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students in Traditional Turkish Handicrafts Department how to use computers and design programs for their projects, researches and presentations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   be informed of the vector-based and pixel-based programs and three-dimensional programs,
2   be informed of the functions of the program instruments and menus,
3   choose a suitable program for the designs prepared by Carpet-Rug, Fabric, Tile Departments and other traditional branches,
4   If necessary, make corrections on the defects originated while taking photos of the Turkish Traditional Handicrafts,
5   realize simple visual arrangements on a pixel-based program for Carpet and Tile designs,
6   realize simple designs for Carpet and Tile projects on a pixel-based program.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The instructor introduces the students the working principles of the programs to be used for research and project preparations, the differences among programs, the functions of menus and instruments by means of Traditional Turkish Crafts Department projects, and he expects the students to do the same applications.
