Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the early samples of Asian and European textiles which have an important place in the world s textile history, and indicate artistic interaction between cultures.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   explain cloth weaving and ornamentation concept and their appearance reasons,
2   identify historical textile centres in Asia
3   identify historical textile centres in Europe,
4   be informed of the mutual interactions of Asian and European textiles,
5   identify the artistic features of historical textiles.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, the students will make use of the instructor s lesson notes and resource researches. They are also expected to make visual presentation and application studies in workshops under the supervision of the instructor.

The student s researches, assignment and projects will be evaluated out of 100. Attendance will be effective on final grade at the rate of 20%.
