Course Objective

of this course is to teach students to associate the stacking features in celi writings with functions, forms and styles; to compare the traditional and non- traditional styles in stacking, to define effects of information technologies in design phase and to show them in a unique example.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define stacking features in celi writings with its functions, forms and variety of types
2   To explain the traditional styles and techniques of analysis in stacking
3   To show and use the new, non-traditional designs and techniques in stacking
4   To create unique designs with examples of different types of letters by using information technologies
5   To create unique design by using similar and different discipline rules, to explain processes verbally with the support of scientific data and apply the stages of design systematically.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, the richness of composition in celi writings will be shown in examples which are applied on light and dark ground.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The course has 2 credits for theoretical knowledge and 2 credits for applications. During the semester, the attendance will be taken and there will be a midterm for students to comprehend the subjects in lessons. In the midterm, the degree of comprehension and understanding of the subjects in given course books and also the degree of skills in applications will be evaluated. With the 15% of the midterm and 15% of the final exam, the evaluation of knowledge and skills will be done. The homework and presentations will affect the results by 30%. The evaluation of the term project will affect the results by 40%.

At the end of the classes, the subject of next class is announced to students as research subject. At the beginning of the next class, stages of the works are examined, mistakes are criticized and discussed; then the students begin their new application in studios.
