Course Objective

The aim of this course is to inform the students about rug and carpet weavings. Moreover, designs that are suitable for weaving techniques will be made in accordance with a selected theme.

1   be informed of the area of usage of carpets and plain weavings,
2   be informed of the carpet and plain weaving techniques,
3   make original designs about a selected theme,
4   foresee the product form of their designs,
5   present their design effectively,

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

After scanning the literature and visual materials research about carpet and plain weavings, a weaving design will be made in accordance with the selected theme.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

A research file (portfolio) will be prepared after a detailed research and examination about carpet and plain weavings in the lesson. Later on, a weaving design will be made about a selected theme.

Assessment Criteria

The assignments and projects will be evaluated out of 100. the attendance will be effective on the pass grade in the rate of 20 %.

80 % attendance is compulsory. Workshop works are effective. Designs are to be finished in the lesson.
