Course Objective

This course focuses on the strategic management issues confronting firms which compete in the global economy. This course is a capstone for all courses. It covers theories, methods, skills, and techniques studied in the entire international business curriculum. The aims of the course are to develop skills in identifying, analyzing, and solving realistic business problems and to develop analytical and decision making skills in international context.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand the basic concepts of strategic management to recognize the important role that strategic management plays in a business s success in the global environment
2   Analyze and interpret the international strategic decisions of companies to interpret the organizations and their activities from the perspective of a general manager, incorporating the impact of financial analysis, market position, organizational competences, and ethical principles.
3   Think strategically and develop strategic insight to make decisions in regular or unstable situations

Assessment Criteria

1. The learner will clearly define the basic strategic management concepts in midterm and final exams.
2. The learner will use necessary strategic management concepts and ethical approaches to explain the decision-making processes of international companies in class discussions.
3. The learner will present the solution of case studies which includes international strategic management problems and actively contribute to the class discussions.
4. The learner will show how to respond uncertain business conditions by analyzing financial data, market data and organizational capabilities.
