Course Objective

To examine of political, economical and social life of pre-Islamic and post-.Islamic Turks, Examination of effects of cultural values acquired throughout history on human and society

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to describe of name of Turk, its genealogy and scattered area
2   To be able to appraise of features of Great Hun State
3   To be able to analyse of the nature of Gokturk State
4   To be able to explain of distinctive peculiarities of Uighur state from the other Turkish states
5   To be able to tell of way of life of Turgishs and Oghuz
6   Receives general information about Turkish history and culture
7   Teaches culture and civilization and distinguishes the differences among them.
8   Comprehends cultural change and development.
9   Distinguishes cultural elements and their flashes to nowadays.
10   Criticises administrative understandings through historical process.
11   Comprehends civilization period of the Turkish culture in historical process.
12   Analysis the differences between Turkish culture and others.

1 Objective and sources of the course, importance and value of culture, periods of Turkish national culture, power of Turkish culture
2 First motherland of the Turks and their extension, ancient Central Asian cultures, Turkish character, life pattern of Ancient Turks
3 Name of Turk in history, origins of Turkish culture, Turkish emigrations and their expansion areas.
4 Birth and rise of Great Hunnic Empire, Hun-Chinese ascendancy struggle, division and fall of the Empire
5 Hephthalites, Western Hunnic Empire and Tabgachs
6 Art, religión and cultural life in the Hunnic period
7 Art, religión and cultural life in the Hunnic period, Second Gokturk Empire, cultural life of Gokturks
8 Uighurs and their rise, New Uighur states after the Krygyz defeat, art, religion and culture of Uighurs
9 Kyrgyz, Turgis and their cultural life
10 Oghuz Turks, Karluks and their cultural life
11 Seljuks
12 Foundation of the Ottoman Empire
13 Rise of the Ottoman Empire
14 Decline and Fall of the Ottoman Empire
