Course Objective

The objective of this course is to examine the basic concepts and principles of conversation, types of conversation and conversation analysis and to reveal how conversation is structurally and strategically organized.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the general features of spoken interaction and the discourse hierarchy
2   Explain the interactional strategies by giving examples from real conversations
3   Prepare the transcriptions of conversation recordings
4   Analyze the transcriptions serving his/her purpose
5   Interpret and evaluate the transcriptions of conversations.
