Course Objective

The course aims to equip management students with an understanding of the main issues in the management of innovation and an appreciation of the relevant skills needed to manage innovation at both strategic and operational levels. It provides evidence of different approaches based on real-world examples and experiences of leading organizations from around the world. Topics include business model innovation, design-driven innovation, leadership, strategy, information technology, knowledge management, process improvement, performance measurement, and change management.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to use innovation and new knowledge in maritime transport with systematic approach.
2   Assess and interpret innovation processes
3   Develop and formulate managerial strategies to shape innovative performance
4   Utilize tools of innovation management to map and measure innovative activities
5   Diagnose different innovation challenges and make recommendations for resolving them
