Course Objective

The course is conducted in accordance to the requirements of STCW regulation B-I/12 and section B-I/12.40 of the STCW Code and is based on the guidelines of IMO Model Course 2.06.This training includes theoretical as well as practical application of such knowledge through the use of liquid cargo handling simulator.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Identify and perform the different cargo operations carried out by crude oil tankers including the operation of inert gas system and crude oil washing system and describe and perform tank cleaning and gas freeing cargo tanks in accordance with the standards accepted by the industry
2   Understand and apply contingency measures in the event of emergency during such operations
3   To show a thorough understanding of the principles and practicalities for safe and pollution free cargo operations
4   To show an understanding of the procedures required to produce efficient operational plans.
5   To gain basic information about company and industry guidelines
