Course Objective

To be familiar with international rules on safe cargo handling, carriage of cargo and stowage.
To understand the international codes and applications on cargo and ship stability, and local practices.
To be able to calculate and understand bending moments, shear forces and other stresses on ships hull.
Understanding load lines and minimum freeboard concepts.
To be able to calculate stresses on cargo handling gear.
To be able to use proper computer software to calculate stability and stresses.
Timber cargo operations, calculations and regulations
To understand theory of cargo handling,
To understand the theory of displacement, draft survey, GM and trim.
To be able to calculate cargo quantity, drafts and trim,
