Course Objective

The course objective is to design a marine outfall structure.

1 General description of the project; Distribution of the project data to the groups
2 Making bathymetric map
3 Siting the pipeline and define the alternatives
4 Calculation of the design current
5 Calculation of the dilutions at discharge routes
6 Discharge point determination
7 Midterm exam
8 Diffuser system design
9 Design wave (determine the wave height and the period)
10 Stresses on the pipeline
11 Determination of the pipeline lengths under the seabed; Design the concrete weights and placing
12 Midterm exam
13 Drawing of plan and cross-section views of the concrete weights
14 Drawing of hydraulic profile

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lecture presentations will be achieved, length of the discharge pipe and its location and the replacement of the concrete weights will be controlled at project meetings, and technical guidance will be done.
