Course Objective

To teach and explain the basic concept of European Environmental Law and institutions, the general principles

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define the concepts of European Environmental Law
2   To explain the general principles of European Environmental Law
3   To compare means of intervention for prevention of environmental pollution in European Environmental Law
4   To distinguish administrative, civil and criminal sanctions in environmental law in European Environmental Law
5   To apply the rules of European environmental law cases in the ECHR and the ABAD

2 Activities of the European Union in the field of environment
3 Environmental policy of the European Union and the historical development of activities in the environmental field
4 Environmental policy of the European Union and the legal basis of activity in the field of environment and basic principles
5 Environmental policy of the European Union and the relationship between activity in the field of environment of the UN Economic Commission for Europe and the European Council environmental law
6 The relationship between the Council of Europe and the EU bodies in the field of environmental protection
7 Insertion into the EU law provisions on the environment which in The Treaty of Rome, the Single European Act, the Maastricht Agreement, the Treaty of Amsterdam, Nice Agreement, the European Charter of Fundamental Rights and the Lisbon Agreement
8 Midterm exam
9 The general principles of European Union Environmental Policy
10 Foundations of the European Action Programme in the field of environmental protection
11 Placement of the European Union's environmental policy into other policies of the European Union
12 The relationship between European Union Environmental Law and national environmental laws of the Member States
13 Evaluation of the decisions of the Court concerning the protection of the environment
14 Evaluation of the decisions of the ECJ on the protection of the environment
