Course Objective

This course aims at introducing the challenges of translating theatre texts as translating plays differs greatly from other types of translation. The need for preliminary research and analysis in theatre translation will be justified, strategies and methods available will be discussed through practice.

Classroom discussions will be held about the theatre translation theories. Students are expected to come to class having translated the sample theatre texts that are assigned to them

1. One midterm exam and a final exam will be given throughout the term.
2. Students are expected to come to class having translated the theater texts that are assigned to them weekly and to participate in class discussions and practices.
