Course Objective

This course aims to explore the texts throughout history that translators and interpreters have produced, and their positions and impact on the formation and planning of cultures and civilizations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students are able to evaluate the historical evolution of translation both in Turkey and Europe. 2   Students are able to relate translation activity with social, cultural and political events in different periods of history. 3   Students are able to look into the factors effective in their choice of texts to be translated and approaches to the texts. 4   Students are able to explore the identity of the translator in different periods. 5   Students are able to analyze the texts written by translators about translation.
