Course Objective

To teach the criteria of textuality, text production process, communication scheme and the syntactic parts of the texts which are the main ingredient in human communication.

1 The main and sub-fields of Linguistics and its relation to other disciplines
2 The description of the term "text". The relationship between the text and Linguistics. The field of textlinguistics
3 Comprehension of text as the main component of communication and the utterance as the main component of the text. Utterance and discourse.
4 History of textlinguistics and the milestone researchers of textlinguistics
5 The rhetoric theories and their applications.
6 The communication scheme of Jacobson and the functions of language
7 Ovreview of the subjects and review
8 The criteria of textuality by Beaugrande ve Dressler
9 The text production stages by Beaugrande ve Dressler
10 Types of texts/text types and tones
11 Examples and applications about text types
12 Examination of the sample text about their representation adequacy on their text type
